It is unusual for me to paint seascapes, but there is a story behind this small collection based on West Wittering beach. After breaking my nose, and consequently getting concussion, I found it very hard to paint using bold colours and I only wanted to paint smaller pieces. This piece was painted quite soon after the incident and I just wanted to use a gentle palette and brush strokes - it was actually a very therapeutic exercise.
